Austin NARI homes tour this weekend!

Our Bryker Woods project features a new contemporary yet warm kitchen.

A new stair leads to a new second story. All of the bedrooms are now upstairs.

The new rear patio, pool and spa make for easy relaxing and entertaining.

This weekend, CG&S will have two houses on the Austin NARI 2010 Tour of Remodeled Homes, Saturday and Sunday, 12 noon to 6 PM. Check out their website www.austinnari.org for all the details.

Both of our projects were comprehensive renovations and expansions in a couple of wonderful, established Austin neighborhoods: Bryker Woods and Highland Park. We added a second floor to both homes, and updated everything else.

Our Highland Park project features a well appointed traditional kitchen with a very large central island.

We created a spacious mudroom, pantry, and storage area between the garage entry and the kitchen to handle a busy family's needs.

The new master bath with a claw-footed tub and rich color.

It should be another beautiful weekend and we're looking forward to visiting with lots of friends, new and old. See you on the tour!

2010 AIA Austin Homes Tour Recap

It got a little busy in the living room.

Mark Lind, the project designer, with some of his admirers.

Inside the new kitchen.

I had fun talking with lots of tour takers.

Beautiful weather, and a brief moment of calm.

October started off with a bang as we saw thousands of architecture buffs visit our home in this year's AIA Austin homes tour. We had a great time visiting with everybody who came out; Austin certainly has lots of design minded folks who love good residential architecture. The beautiful weather helped also.

Our homeowner-clients finally have their home back after weeks of preparation and fine tuning. They are real troopers for opening their home to the public. It's quite something to see a lawn full of removed shoes and scores of curious visitors exploring every inch of your home. Fortunately for them, we put them up at a cool Austin hotel Saturday night, so they escaped most of this trying experience.

Next up: the NARI homes tour this very weekend. More on that tomorrow!
