The Prairie Response to Drought

One upside to challenging conditions such as this interminable drought is that it forces us to discover elegant, simple, and natural solutions to complex problems. Perhaps evolving crises like these will force us to create a better world. Whether the motivation is survival or practicality, it's exciting to see ideas such as utilizing endemic species for adapting Austin landscapes to what may be longer cycles of punishing summer. This response heals the land, conserves precious water, protects animal species, and increases the beauty of the environment. That's a lot of all-in-ones!
